National Certificates

To help meet national and local skill shortages and the needs of the students at Te Puke High School, we offer Specialist ‘Schools’. These schools will deliver full National Certificates to Senior Students at Levels 1, 2 and 3. These are either 1 or 2 year courses and are offered in a variety of Industries. While these certificates are at a certain level they also contain credits at other levels. The National Certificates contain a varying number of credits in their specific industry area and many also contain compulsory credits from other subject areas like Communication English (ENG22 or ENG32), use of Mathematical Data, and Core Generic Skills. The main benefits of gaining these qualifications at school are:

  • there are no tuition fees to the student.
  • students’ opportunities are broadened and enhanced in a variety of industry areas upon leaving school.
  • all credits gained contribute directly to your NCEA total allowing you to gain 2 qualifications simultaneously.
