Level 1 Music involves; performing music in a group situation and as a solo performer, studying two pieces of music and looking at the musical features and factors that influenced why the music was composed, composing two pieces of music which may be done in a group, learning how to use music technology to create music, developing listening skills, and understanding music theory (optional external exams).

It is recommended that students have been learning an instrument (voice is an instrument) or have completed Year 10 Music.
